Microsoft Edge Browser for Linux available as DEV version
As announced, Microsoft has now released its Edge Developer version for Insider (version 88) for Linux.
With this version you can test the Microsoft browser under Linux for the first time (.deb and .rpm Repos) .
In the next step there will be a beta channel version and then the public release.
At https://www.microsoftedgeinsider.com/en-us/download/?platform=linux you could download the Linux version.
Here the direct download of the repos:

- .rpm: https://packages.microsoft.com/yumrepos/edge/
P.S: Under Ubuntu you have to download the .deb download first and then start the software installation with a click. If you select "Open with software installation (default)" in the download question it will not work.

Is there now at least one good reason why I should install the Edge under Linux? So far I see many reasons against it. The only scenario where the Edge actually offers an added value instead of a disadvantage seems to me to be companies that still need IE for ancient applications. There they can use the IE mode in the Edge and use a browser for old and new web applications instead of a mixed operation of IE + Chrome/Firefox.
But there is the question whether they offer this also under Linux. In the end, they would have to port the entire IE engine to Linux for this, and in the worst case Quirksmode & co. I imagine it would be difficult, the IE was already a horror under Windows...

Gibt es denn mittlerweile zumindest einen guten Grund, warum ich mir unter Linux den Edge installieren sollte? Bisher sehe ich viele Gründe dagegen. Einziges Szenario wo der Edge tatsächlich einen Mehrwert statt Nachteil bietet, scheinen mir Unternehmen zu sein, die noch den IE für Uraltanwendungen brauchen. Da können sie den IE Modus im Edge nutzen und einen Browser für alte und neue Webanwendungen verwenden, statt einen Mischbetrieb aus IE + Chrome/Firefox.
Da ist aber die Frage, ob sie das auch unter Linux anbieten. Letztendlich müssten sie dafür ja die gesamten IE Engine mit im schlimmsten Falle Quirksmode & co auf Linux portieren... stelle ich mir schwierig vor, der IE war ja schon unter Windows ein Graus..

For me there are three reasons so far:
It's all a matter of opinion, but on Windows the Edge works quite well in my opinion, so why not use it on Linux as well. For me as a programmer it's great that I can now test the Administrator.de site in my Linux development environment for Windows without having to open Windows

Ist natürlich alles eine Ansichtssache, aber unter Windows funktioniert z.B. der Edge aus meiner Sicht ganz gut, warum ihn also nicht auch unter Linux nutzen. Für mich als Programmierer ist es Klasse, dass ich die Administrator.de Seite nun auch in meiner Linux-Entwicklungsumgebung für Windows testen kann, ohne extra Windows zu öffnen

- Sync: If the login works, I have the same favorites, collections and settings as on Windows. But in the DEV version this does not work yet
- As a web developer I can test the compatibility without starting a Windows
- As an end user you can use the same browser as on Windows and do not need to install Firefox or Chrome.
It's all a matter of opinion, but on Windows the Edge works quite well in my opinion, so why not use it on Linux as well. For me as a programmer it's great that I can now test the Administrator.de site in my Linux development environment for Windows without having to open Windows

- Sync: Sollte der Login funktionieren, habe ich habe die gleichen Favoriten, Sammlungen und Einstellungen wie auf Windows. In der DEV Version geht das allerdings noch nicht
- Als Webentwickler kann ich die Kompatibilität testen, ohne gleich ein Windows zu starten
- Als Enduser kann den gleichen Browser nutzen wie auf Windows und muss nicht Firefox oder Chrome installieren.

Die Hölle ist nun schon dauerhaft zugefroren.
Heute hat Edge mich unter Linux nicht überzeugt. Ich denke in drei bis sechs Monaten wird er aber der Standardbrowser auf meinen Linux Desktop Systemen.
