Viel Erfolg

Installing Windows 2003 Hangs on DL380 G1
DocId: KBRC00014473 Updated: 3/23/04 4:57:00 AM
PROBLEM

A DL380 first generation will not install Windows Server 2003 Standard.
It hangs at "setup is starting windows" and freezes. SmartStart versions that
support Windows Server 2003 do not support the first generation DL380.
CONFIGURATION

Windows Server 2003
RESOLUTION

<ol><li>Use a SmartStart cd to do an Offline ROM flash. Download the file
CP002027.scexe from
htp://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/17363.html.
The installation instructions are provided on that web page.</li>
<li>Perform a complete system erase. Download SP22002.exe from
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/17918.html,

<li>Download the System Configuration Utility and copy to floppy. Download
SP19619.exe from
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/13227.html; and

<li>Download the driver for the Smart Array-2 storage controller for
Windows Server 2003. This is file CP003511.exe at
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/17777.html.
